Frequently Asked Questions
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is guided hypnosis, or a trance-like state of focus and concentration, made possible by a hypnotherapist. This trance-like state is similar to being completely absorbed in a book, movie, music, or even one's own thoughts or meditations. In this state, clients can turn their attention and completely focus to regain control of certain aspects of their life.
What is it not?
While it is possible to hypnotize someone into thinking they are something they are not, like a chicken, professional practitioners like myself would rather focus our energy on healing. The theatrics seen in movies and television shows are merely for entertainment purposes. I’m more interested in aiding others to overcome their mental state of mind. Although if clucking helps, I suppose we can cross that bridge. Joking aside, I am here for you, please know this if you’re seriously considering hypnotherapy.
How does Hypnosis work?
Hypnosis is not a form of psychotherapy, but rather a tool that helps facilitate a variety of medical and mental treatments. Only trained and certified hypnotists can identify, along with the patient, the proper hypnosis treatment. No matter how complex the problem, I am straightforward. I will advise you if hypnotherapy is for you. I don’t waste your time or my own. If hypnosis is the right treatment, I will do everything I can to provide care to overcome your potential issue.

What methods are used? **
Guided Relaxation - Allowing the body and mind to rest and relax. I will serve as a guide during the relaxation process. Sounds more like a spa, right? Well, that’s the idea, sort of anyways. When you think of spas, you immediately think of being in a relaxed state, right? That’s my ultimate goal here too.
Guided Imagery - I will be guiding you to imagine various mental and stimulating images while keeping all of the senses active. The end-goal can be stress reduction, heightening self-esteem, self-healing, etc. These sessions can be spoken or unspoken.
Positive Affirmations - Statements that are positive in nature, used to retrain thinking to effect positive change. Negativity tends to dwell in our lives more than it should. My job is to expel the negative thought process, while reinforcing the positivity that you should see.
Is Hypnosis safe?
Hypnosis is absolutely safe. It's perfectly normal and a common state of mind we naturally go into daily. You enter hypnosis regularly when daydreaming, watching a good movie, or reading a captivating book. During these activities, you remain consciously aware and are in complete control, just as you would when a professional hypnotherapist assists you into entering a state of hypnosis.

Through guided imagery, we will attempt to engage all the senses to instill realism in the sessions. Why? Because the act of imagining evokes physical, mental, and emotional changes within us. Guided imagery successfully engages our consciousness and allows us to transform it.
We are able to envision a better future, heal our past, and look deeper within ourselves. This is needed to evaluate our life issues, see the cause-and-effects, identify the stressors in our lives and more.
Guided imagery is completely safe and anyone can undergo treatment at any age. All you need to do is picture, imagine or visualize.
Guided imagery is often included in my hypnosis sessions.
